ISID/ESCMID FELLOWSHIPS
The ISID/ESCMID Fellowships were established in 2010 by the International Society for Infectious Diseases (ISID) and the European Society for Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID) to foster international collaboration and the exchange of scientific knowledge and best practices in infectious diseases.
Through this partnership, the program has supported early-career investigators from low and lower-middle-income countries through multidisciplinary clinical and laboratory training opportunities in Europe. Fellows have had the opportunity to expand their research experience, learn from infectious disease specialists, and bring knowledge and strengthened practices back to their home institutions and regions.
Proposals focused on strengthening clinical practice, research capacity, and technology transfer in underserved regions have historically been prioritized.
Eligibility
Historically, ISID/ESCMID Fellowships have been open to early-career investigators from low and lower-middle-income countries outside of Europe.
Selection Process
Applications have been reviewed by members of ISID’s Research Committee in collaboration with ISID and ESCMID research program directors.
Future Fellowship Opportunities
Through the ISID/ESCMID Fellowships, early-career investigators have had the opportunity to strengthen research capacity, gain multidisciplinary clinical and laboratory experience, and build international professional networks in infectious diseases and global health. The program has supported knowledge exchange and collaboration across regions where additional training opportunities are especially valuable.
Planning for future ISID/ESCMID Fellowship programming is underway. Meanwhile, please stay tuned for updates.
