ProMED Q1 word cloud published
ISID publishes annual and quarterly word clouds based on ProMED’s infectious disease surveillance where the size of each word indicates the frequency with which a ProMED report was published on the topic.
Note: word size does not indicate the size of an outbreak nor its exact location on a continent.
ABOUT PROMED
ProMED – the Program for Monitoring Emerging Diseases – is an internet-based reporting system dedicated to rapid global dissemination of information on outbreaks of emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases and toxic events effecting humans, animals, wildlife and plants.
By providing early warning of cases and outbreaks, public health precautions at all levels can be taken in a timely manner to prevent epidemics and save lives. Sources of information include media reports, official reports, online summaries, local observers, and others including ProMED subscribers.
A team of expert human, plant, and animal disease moderators screen, review, and investigate reports before posting to the network.
A central purpose of ProMED is to promote communication amongst the international infectious disease community, including scientists, physicians, epidemiologists, public health professionals, and others interested in infectious diseases.
