International Infection Prevention Week was established in 1986. It is celebrated on the third week of October annually to raise awareness and highlight the significance of Infection Prevention. This year’s theme is “Moving the Needle on Infection Prevention.” The theme is apt, as public health and safety start by preventing hospital-acquired infections and other infectious disease threats.
We at the ISID are at the forefront of Infection Prevention. Since 1998, over 60,000 free hardcopies of the ISID’s Guide to Infection Control have been distributed to healthcare professionals around the world. In addition, since 2015, the soft copies of the new edition of the Guide have been downloaded over 10,000 times by individuals from over 160 countries. The Guide, written by international experts in the field of Infection Control and Hospital Epidemiology, is not a static document. It is updated regularly to reflect the growth of the Infection Prevention field and its evolution over time, ensuring that you are always informed and up-to-date.
