IJID Special Issue: Dengue Fever in India

With dengue named as one of the top 10 threats to global health in 2019 that need prioritizing by the World Health Organization, concerted action by the global community is urgently needed to reduce dengue deaths and disease. India is often described as the epicenter of dengue and has pioneered research to improve health outcomes. The International Journal of Infectious Diseases (IJID) is proud to bring together scientists and public health specialists working on dengue in India and provide a platform for dissemination of current dengue research and control activities that can bring about a paradigm shift in global dengue control.

In this Special Issue, titled ‘Dengue Fever in India’ published in July 2019, the IJID highlights a concerted national and international effort under the leadership of the Indo-US Vaccine Action Program and the Indian government, to establish sustainable surveillance systems in India, improve diagnostics, establish innovative vector control, and develop novel dengue vaccines. These efforts can bring about a paradigm shift in global dengue control.
