Will you assist us this Giving Tuesday?
This year marks ProMED's 30th anniversary, a significant milestone in the event-based surveillance world. Over the past three decades, ProMED has made invaluable contributions to the infectious diseases community, being the first to alert the world to SARS, Chikungunya, MERS, and COVID-19, among others. When we reflect back on ProMED’s humble origins in 1994 as an email listserv and look at where we are today - sending over 9 million emails per month to over 70,000 email subscribers and posting over 6,500 alerts to our website per year - we are proud of all ProMED has achieved in these last 30 years.
As many of you know, last year we announced that ProMED would be moving to a new subscription model in order to modernize, provide an improved user experience, and allow for new and improved data accessibility features. These large-scale changes have taken longer than expected due to the challenges of our contrived and aging infrastructure, and a continued lack of funding for the project. We truly thank you for your patience as we move closer to completion.
To get this project over the finish line, we need your support now more than ever. Help us to ensure ProMED can operate under a more sustainable financial model moving forward, providing daily global disease outbreak reporting for another 30 years.
