ISID Research Capacity Building Grants
The ISID Research Capacity Building Grants are among the Society’s signature programs and support ISID’s commitment to strengthening infectious disease research and public health capacity in low- and lower-middle-income countries (LMICs).
Through funding and mentorship opportunities, the program has supported early-career researchers, scientists, epidemiologists, physicians, veterinarians, and allied healthcare professionals working in regions disproportionately affected by infectious diseases. In addition, recipients have had the opportunity to connect with experienced mentors from ISID’s global network of infectious disease professionals.
Through mentorship, funding, and international collaboration, the program has helped support early-career researchers working in infectious diseases, antimicrobial resistance (AMR), infection prevention, epidemiology, and other public health priority areas. Additionally, recipients have had opportunities to strengthen local research capacity, share findings with the global infectious disease community, and build long-term professional networks.
The program has supported research and public health initiatives in areas including:
- Epidemiology, pathophysiology, and diagnosis of infectious diseases
- Hospital-acquired infections (HAI)
- Cost-effective infectious disease interventions
- Infection prevention and control in LMICs
- Antimicrobial resistance (AMR)
- Other infectious disease public health capacity-building areas
