Welcome to our New IJID Handling Editors

ISID is pleased to welcome two new Handling Editors to the International Journal of Infectious Diseases (IJID) Editorial Team. Dr. Aisha Abubakar from Nigeria and Dr. Richard Brou Yapi from Côte d'Ivoire joined the IJID Editorial Team on August 1, 2020.

Dr. Aisha Abubakar (nee Ahmed Umar) [MBBS, MPH Field Epidemiology, FWACP] is a seasoned epidemiologist and Public Health Physician. She is a Reader/Consultant with the Ahmadu Bello University and the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital in Zaria, Northwestern Nigeria. Dr. Aisha Abubakar has a Master's degree in Public Health in Field Epidemiology from the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria and a Postgraduate certificate in Health Research from the University of Lancaster, UK. She is also a Fellow of the Faculty of Community Health of the West African College of Physicians (FWACP). Her main interests are Infectious Disease Epidemiology and Public Health Surveillance.

Dr. Richard Brou Yapi

Dr. Richard Brou Yapi is a researcher at the Centre d’Entomologie Médicale et Vétérinaire, Université Alassane Ouattara and Associate Researcher at the Centre Suisse de Recherches Scientifiques (CSRS) in Côte d'Ivoire. During his PhD project on Plasmodium and helminth coinfections, he gained experience in statistical modelling and the management and analysis of data from large community-based research. He expanded his skills in epidemiology and biostatistics at the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute. In 2017, he began a three-year postdoctoral fellowship on brucellosis control as part of the Afrique One-ASPIRE Program funded by the Wellcome Trust/African Academy of Sciences. As part of the fellowship, he is investigating different approaches to the control of brucellosis that fit African settings. This year, Richard Brou Yapi has been appointed as an infectious disease moderator for ProMED, a program of the International Society of Infectious Diseases.
