The International Society for Infectious Diseases (ISID) participated in the Centers for Antimicrobial Optimisation Network (CAMO-Net) in-person meeting held in London from 2 to 3 June 2025. The event aimed to strengthen collaboration, drive strategic planning, and explore innovative research opportunities in antimicrobial resistance (AMR).
ISID engaged with researchers and scientists from the CAMO-Net National Hubs, Technical Support and Development Centres, and Shadow National Sites representing Bangladesh, Brazil, Ghana, India, Liverpool, London, Malawi, Pakistan, South Africa, Thailand, Timor-Leste, and Uganda.
During the meeting, ISID delivered a dedicated workshop entitled “ProMED-AMR: Advancing Early Warning Surveillance for Antimicrobial Resistance.” The session showcased the Program for Monitoring Emerging Diseases (ProMED) with special focus on its flagship ProMED-AMR platform (established in 2020), as a global expert-driven network that leverages digital disease detection tools and non-traditional data sources to rapidly identify and report AMR trends. ISID workshop featured a live, hands-on demonstration of the newly launched ProMED-AMR 2.0 platform, an interactive AMR data mining exercise, a frontline user perspective of the platform, and a survey to assess barriers and opportunities in AMR data sharing to support the CAMO-Net initiative
In addition to the ISID-led workshop, the two-day event covered a wide range of cutting-edge topics, including biosensor targets, budget impact analysis, portable molecular diagnostics, innovative micro-sampling, and human-centered approaches to aligning technology with cultural and behavioral contexts. Presentations from the various CAMO-Net hubs fostered robust dialogue and knowledge exchange and opened new avenues for collaborative research.
