The International Society for Infectious Diseases (ISID) welcomes Paul Ananth Tambyah as the new Society's President. We look forward to his leadership!
Professor Paul Ananth Tambyah is currently a Senior Consultant in the Division of Infectious Diseases, National University Hospital, Professor of Medicine at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. He is also a visiting consultant at Singapore’s National Center for Infectious Diseases. He is currently the President of the Asia Pacific Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infection and immediate past President of the Society of Infectious Diseases (Singapore). His past appointments include the founding head of the division of Infectious Diseases in National University of Singapore (NUS), Assistant Dean in Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine (YLLSOM), and a board member of the Society of Healthcare Epidemiology in America. His main research interests are in emerging infectious diseases and hospital acquired infection.
Prof. Tambyah brings a unique perspective to the leadership of ISID, replacing Prof. Alison Holmes who will now serve as ISID's immediate past-President. ISID's CEO, Linda MacKinnon says, "We are so thrilled to have Paul step in as the leader of the ISID Executive Committee and to continue to expand the reach of ISID's many key Infectious Disease (ID) Programs with his tireless vision for global healthcare equity." Prof. Tambyah has served on the Executive Committee for many years, leading up to his new role as current President of the Society. During these unprecedented times, we are grateful to have him at the helm, leading all our amazing ISID Executive Committee members at the forefront of ID science and practice.
