The 19th International Congress on Infectious Diseases (ICID) is being held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Kuala Lumpur is the capital city of Malaysia, boasting gleaming skyscrapers, colonial architecture, charming locals, and a myriad of natural attractions. We hope that before and after the Congress you will spend some time exploring all that this beautiful city has to offer.
The Petronas Towers are the city’s most famous attraction. The towers are connected by a bridge (Skybridge) on the 41st and 42nd floors. The bridge is open to the public, but tickets are required and advance ticket purchase is recommended.
The KL Tower(Menara KL) is another popular landmark. Go to KL Tower to see spectacular views of the city, even more impressive than from the Petronas towers, as the viewing platform is located higher. Sit down in the revolving restaurant, Atmosphere 360, the highest restaurant in the city, located on a viewing deck.
Chinatown is a thriving part of town with great food to try at every corner.
Jalan Petaling is the main shopping street, where you will find countless stalls selling clothes, shoes, electronics, etc. Don’t be afraid to bargain!
The Perdana Botanical Gardens is a peaceful green oasis removed from the city’s chaos. Easily accessible by foot, train, or bus, the Perdana Botanical Garden is located just southwest of Chinatown near the National Mosque, the KTM Old Railway Kuala Lumpur station, and the historic Dataran Merdeka square.
