World Health Day: Healthy Beginnings, Hopeful Futures

World Health Day is a global health awareness day celebrated every year on April 7th under the World Health Organization's sponsorship as it marks its foundation's anniversary. This year's theme, "Healthy Beginnings, Hopeful Futures,"
focuses on maternal and newborn health and survival
to end preventable maternal and newborn deaths and prioritize women's long-term health and well-being.

As it is considered that currently four out of five countries are off track to meet targets for improving maternal survival by 2030, this year's campaign encourages governments and the health community to intensify efforts to prevent maternal and newborn deaths. The WHO launches a year-long campaign on maternal and newborn health, sharing helpful information about healthy pregnancies, births, and postnatal health, including maternal and newborn health courses with topics such as infection prevention and control in maternal and neonatal care, respectful maternity and newborn care, and accelerating elimination of congenital syphilis.

ISID focuses particularly on countries with limited resources that disproportionately bear the burden of infectious diseases. We recognize the impact of these diseases on maternal and newborn health and join these strategic efforts to step up support and collaboration for global health.
