Dr. Brian Arturo Mondeja Rodríguez, PhD
Centro de Estudios Avanzados de Cuba (CEA)

Dr. Mondeja is a microbiologist and researcher at the Center of Advance Research of Cuba (CEA) where he is heading the NanoBioformulation Department and the Microbiology Lab Research Unit. For more than 12 years, he has been working with mycoplasmas, in particular Mycoplasma genitalium. His current focus is on Nano-biomedicine, in the field of new advance methods for the diagnosis and treatment of emergent infectious agents as M. genitalium diagnosis and antimicrobial susceptibility aiming to improve treatment with the application of Nanotechnology. He has been part of several research projects focused in STDs and in the new COVID-19 pandemic.

Mulatu Gashaw Adbaru
Jimma University's School of Medical Laboratory Science, Jimma, Ethiopia

Mulatu Gashaw Adbaru works as an Assistant Professor of clinical microbiology at the Jimma University's School of Medical Laboratory Science, Ethiopia. He works and teaches microbiology courses to undergraduate and postgraduate students at the Jimma Medical Center's Microbiology Laboratory and Core Research Laboratory. Since 2015, he has been involved in a number of national and international research programs, including SIP, HELP, ERNEST, ESTHER AMR, and COMBAT AMR. His previous projects were on nosocomial infection, neonatal sepsis, infection prevention and control, and community surveillance of Helicobacter pylori infection.

He is currently a Ph.D. fellow at the Center for International Health, Ludwig Maximillian University (CIHLMU) in Munich, Germany. His research project focuses on determining the mechanisms of antimicrobial resistance, molecular epidemiology of antimicrobial resistance, and understanding the transmission dynamics of the antimicrobial-resistant genome in bacteria isolated from the environment, animals, and humans following the One Health approach.
